Location: Portsmouth

Excellent role on offer for BI Developer, where you will be given a creative licence to develop intricate BI Dashboards for different business purposes and have the opportunity to learn from a skilled team and ultimately progress your career.

Main Tasks

Decision support

  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Design new reports and dashboards by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing functional specifications.
  • Understand contract requirements and analyze contract performance; work with customers and system developers to create improved business measuring and decision support.
  • Maintain user documentation; providing help desk support; training users.
  • Work with the system users and customers to ensure data changes are understood.

Centre of excellence

  • Improve systems by studying current practices; suggest business process improvements.
  • Attend training to become an expert in Babcock reporting tools.
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems; write improved procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Develop solutions with the latest tools.

General

  • Extensive regular contact with project team.
  • Participating in user and customer meetings and resolve project issues.
  • Develop and test reports, dashboards and software.
  • Application of systems analysis techniques and procedures.
  • Assist in achieving project goals.
  • Work with multiple projects.
  • Interface with various departments.
  • Other jobs as assigned by manager.

What do I need to do this role

Technical Experience & Qualifications

  • Reporting Software, Power BI (including Excel)
  • SQL
  • SAP knowledge
  • Data Warehousing

Skills Profile

  • A strong degree in computer science, or equivalent years of work experience required
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness and innovative problem solving
  • Experience with quantitative data management and analysis required
  • A comprehensive understanding of using Business Intelligence tools to enable Decision Support through a combination of dashboards and reporting.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software preferred
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills; ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands with a commitment to excellence, accuracy, and strict attention to details
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
  • Experience of effective external representation, plus client and stakeholder management
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively to a specialist and non-specialist audience
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
  • Must be able to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending regular software training courses
