About the Role
Here at Babcock International Group in Rosyth we are currently looking for a Pensions Administrator to join us for an 18 - 24 month fixed term contract. We aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.

As a Pensions Administrator working as part of a busy team, you'll provide an effective and efficient pensions administration service for Members and Trustees of our in-house defined benefit pension schemes, ensuring compliance with legislative and pension scheme requirements.

You'll be involved in all basic and intermediary pensions administration and project related tasks, including early leaver calculations, pension increases, transfer values, the calculation and payment of benefits for members on normal, early, late or ill-health retirement, and also deaths. You'll participate in annual projects such as; renewals, benefit statements, life assurance, PHI and pension increases. You'll handle any data processing and administration tasks, ensuring projects are fully monitored and completed in line with customer and legislation requirements. You'll also deal with enquires from members and trustees, and liaise with Payroll/HR departments and external companies.


What do I need to do the role?
You'll have a good standard of education, including excellent grades in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications. A recognised Pensions industry qualification e.g. CPC/QPA/DPC/RPC/APMI, is also essential for this role.

You'll also need significant, recent experience of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes (note: must be Defined Benefit and not Defined Contribution experience) combined with up-to-date knowledge of current pensions legislation and framework - especially the regulatory requirements of the various Pensions and Finance Acts which impact on pensions administration.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Significant experience of performing calculations for DB pension schemes
  • Experience of using Profund, with a good understanding of Word and Excel
  • In-house pensions department or third party pensions administration experience is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to provide ongoing quality
  • Team player, who is able to able to prioritise and organise workload and work to tight deadlines

Lastly, you'll have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to interact effectively with Members, Trustees and stakeholders at all levels of our organisation.

What else do I need to know?

  • This is a full-time post offered on a fixed-term contract basis of 18 to 24 months. Standard hours of work are Mon-Thu 08:00 to 16.30 and Fri 08:00 to 13:00
  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. You must be a UK national and hold, or have the ability to achieve 'Security Check' (SC) security clearance.
