About the role

Babcock Maritime Mission Systems within Naval Marine is focussed on support to the Royal Navy's in-service combat and strategic systems, trusted to deliver and sustain the fight function to ensure mission ready ships and submarines.

We are recruiting a Submarine Combat System Senior Engineer to develop and maintain End-to-End Level 0 indicative stand-alone schedules for Combat System Design Changes from inception to Fit Opportunity Start Date.

The role's purpose is to improve the management of Combat System Design Changes through the product lifecycle, focusing on the key activities of taking a design change from concept into in-service to reduce churn and improve certainty of delivery.

You will liaise internally and externally with stakeholders to produce E2E Design Change plans from concept to in-service for each Combat System Design Change. The plan will provide indicative planning timescale for the development of each design change in order to influence the decision and placement of key project check points and drive delivery;

You will monitor Design Changes until in-service, advising on the impact of any changes to the baseline plan.

You will collate and implement Learning from Experience (LfE) to improve future performance.

What do I need to do the role?

Demonstrable knowledge of product lifecycle from concept, design, shore testing, installation and acceptance into service is essential.
Experience of project planning is essential.
Demonstrable knowledge of Maritime Combat Systems is highly desirable.
An excellent communicator at all levels, both written and verbal. The individual will build and sustain effective and lasting relationships with the Customer, Stakeholders and our teams located in Bristol, Devonport and Clyde.
Be a proactive, enthusiastic and forward thinking individual.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Power Point and Visio.
Degree qualified in a relevant engineering based discipline or HND with significant demonstrable experience.

What else do I need to know?

This position is based in Keynsham, which is situated between Bristol (5 miles) and Bath (7 miles). There will be a requirement for occasional travel to Southern England, Scotland and Plymouth.
The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and may involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. You must be a sole UK national and ideally hold current/active or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) or 'Developed Vetting' (DV) security clearance. Candidates who do not meet the above criteria will not be considered for this post.
