About the role
Purpose of Babcock Oman is to establish and grow Babcock businesses in Oman through a combination of organic growth of existing businesses, strategic market entry projects and alignment of training services' programmes with Oman economic development.


Babcock operates three business streams in Oman. Their outputs and customers are distinctly different but each is working to protect and enhance its existing offering whilst driving at ambitious growth objectives. Reporting directly to MD Marine Warships the Director will review, lead and manage Babcock Oman's growth and change agenda in line with corporate policies and guidelines.


As well as being a Director on the Board of Duqm Naval Dockyard, you will also identify growth opportunities outside Oman within the Middle East, liaising with relevant Babcock Sector. You will be the focal point into Babcock UK. Applying knowledge, experience and insight of broader Babcock capabilities to Oman strategic growth opportunities. Ensuring compliance with the company's corporate procedures, governance and legislative requirements.

What do I need to do the role?
* You will need to be culturally aware and comfortable living and working within the Middle East.
* Education to degree level
* Experience in stakeholder engagement at a senior and governmental level
* Experience of working in the Middle East is desirable
* A basic understanding of Gulf Arabic is desirable
* Evidenced experience in delivering business growth and strategy

What else do I need to know?
* The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible to acquire, Security Clearance at the appropriate level for this post.
* Depending on your level of Middle East experience or exposure to Babcock, you will either be posted straight out to Oman or require a period of time undergoing induction in the UK. This could include some basic language training.
* The successful candidate can choose to go accompanied or unaccompanied (allowances in accordance with Babcock Global Mobility Policy)

There are currently three functional business units for Babcock Oman Limited and the successful candidate will be expected to maintain these relationships as well as explore any emerging opportunities:

Airwork Technical Services (ATS) (Aviation) - Regional air forces call on our military aircraft maintenance, logistics support, technical support and project management capabilities. Babcock has, for decades, provided mission critical support to the Royal Omani Airforce through Airwork Technical Services. Our aircraft maintenance and logistics and procurement expertise help keep the RAFO flying.

National Training Institute (NTI) (Land) - National Training Institute LLC (NTI), part of UK based Babcock International Group, is a market leader in creating workplace competency by providing vocational training and employment solutions to corporates in the Sultanate. NTI's accredited training in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Information Technology (IT), Technical Training, Executive & Management Development Programmes, Oil & Gas Training aims at building a competent manpower pool ready to face the challenges and opportunities arising in dynamic economies in Oman and abroad.

Duqm Naval Dockyard (DND) (Marine) - Duqm Naval Dockyard (DND) is a Babcock joint venture with Oman Drydock Company (ODC). Strategically located on the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula, outside the Straits of Hormuz, DND combines ODC's extensive dockyard infrastructure with Babcock's breadth and depth of experience in repair and upgrade of complex maritime assets, to provide comprehensive, secure naval maintenance and engineering support to international navies and auxiliary vessels.
