Import Clerk

Have you had an introduction to the logistics sector? Perhaps you have an understanding of the customs documentation process? Would you be interested in developing a career as a customs clerk?

A small Freight Forwarding & Custom Clearance company based a short walk from Southampton Central railway station are looking to recruit an Import Clerk. The company are happy to consider a candidate who has some industry knowledge / experience but would need upskilling and training.

Established in the late 1990`s and operating globally, this company naturally have seen a surge in business as a result of Brexit and the new trade agreement. This Import Clerk role is predominately responsible for Import Clearances (Mainly Sea Freight from the Far East) and liaising with UK Haulage company`s. This would be dealing with one Haulage company in particular who they have a very good working relationship with.

Reporting into the operations manager, you will be provided with on the job training and coaching to become an expert in your field if you do need upskilling with regards Customs Clearance.

Your experience and attributes to be suitable for this role would be:

" Experience of working to deadlines in a time sensitive environment
" Data Entry experience
" Able to demonstrate following a process in a way - and not taking short cuts.
" Willingness to learn and gain further experience within the Freight Forwarding / Customs industry
" Have an inquisitive nature and like to ask questions! You will have a natural keenness to understand and learn why you are following a certain process - rather than just doing it for the sake of it.

You will be joining a small company of circa 5 employees, working in an environment where everyone is encouraged to have an opinion and express your feelings. This is not a big corporate organisation.

Working hours Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm

£20-24K salary
