About the role

Here at Babcock, we're looking to recruit someone to join our Business Support - Facilities team working as a part of our Mission Systems (MS) sector. MS forms a critical part of Babcock's Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, MS employs approximately 1,500 people across the UK and overseas with the largest sites based in Bristol, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Ashchurch.

Using your previous experience in a facilities role, you will deliver an effective and high-quality maintenance service at both our main operating facilities and satellite buildings. You will maintain records of maintenance, repairs, periodic inspections and all related documentation. As a part of the Business Support - Facilities team, you will further play an active part in the preparation for, the induction, the escorting and monitoring of contractors performing physical tasks on site. You will also ensure that the safe working environment is maintained at all times, complying with legal and site-specific health and safety regulations.

Other responsibilities will include providing regular and accurate feedback to the Departmental manager on all issues that may affect the working environment, performance of the department and any defined goals. You will be responsible for the control of business vehicle fleets including scheduled servicing through Lex Fleet hire, routine checks on oil, water, tyres, lights, indicators.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need GCSEs in Maths & English at minimum grade C, a Health & Safety (IOSH) qualification, and a UK Driving Licence (essential).

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Proven experience in facilities management or a relevant position (essential).
  • Experience of managing the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
  • Be IT Literate. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, as well as experience of keeping up-to-date accurate records.
  • Well-versed in technical operations and facilities management best practices.

Lastly, you will need to be an effective communicator (both written & verbal), confident with numbers and having experience in basic maintenance work.

What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who holds or is able to attain a DV level of security clearance.
  • Candidates who do not meet the above criteria will not be considered for this post.
