About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a General Hand & Storekeeper to join the team.

As a General Hand & Storekeeper you will ensure the training area is kept clean and tidy at all times; including floors, benches, machinery (lathes, welding equipment, mills) and other related other areas / equipment. You will also manage the resource and output for the issue centres and be part of the duty lock-up roster to ensure building security.

You will further act as a first point of contact for all queries relating to the stores function. You will resolve all issues in a timely manner, ensuring the customer is communicated with. You will also receive, dispatch and record consumable stock in preparation for courses as scheduled in the training plan. It will be your responsibility to control the issue of tools, consumable stock and permanent loan items to authorised instructors and students, informing the line manager of any discrepancies. You will need to control and maintain various record books (temporary loan, demands, local purchase) to a high standard.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to be fit and able bodied for manual handling and heavy lifting tasks.

We would also like you to have:

  • Good IT skills (with the ability to use various Microsoft Office apps such as: Powerpoint, Excel, Word & Outlook)
  • A fork lift licence would be desirable.

Lastly, you will need to have good communication skills, and the ability to speak to customers confidently and professionally.

What else do I need to know?

  • We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
  • This position has an excellent work/life balance with an early finish on Fridays.
