About the role

Here at Babcock International, we're looking to recruit a number of Linesworkers to join the team.

As a Linesworker, you will work within a group of 3-6 people to carry out specified tasks in the construction and refurbishment of overhead power transmission lines.

Your key responsibilities will include undertaking general rigging tasks and supervising other team members in doing so. You will need to ensure that pre-use inspection checks are carried out on all relevant equipment and adhering to 'safe working loads' and 'colour code' safety information at all times.

Other responsibilities will include earthing, jumpering & jointing, as well as running conductors & earth wire, steel assembly & erection, platform erection & working, and in-situ steelwork replacement. You will also need to ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Site Safe Work Pack, Emergency Plan, Construction Phase Plan and Work Instructions.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to be a level 3 qualified Linesworker on Overhead Power lines, and have previously operated in a supervisory role.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Proven experience of working on the refurbishment of 400kV, 275kV and 132kV overhead lines on steel lattice towers.
  • A good understanding of the requirements of Health & Safety at work and personal safety.
  • Demonstrate competency in the operation of necessary OHL plant and machinery.
  • Willingness to work and live away from home. and
  • A driving licence is essential.

Lastly, you will need to be an excellent communicator with great team-working skills.

What else do I need to know?

  • This role is based out of head office in Nottinghamshire, however you will be permanently based on sites across the UK depending on project locations, so you must be prepared to live away from home.
  • You will be required to work a 5-day week followed by a 7-day week, so you will likely be working away from home for a period of 12 days in a 14-day period.
