We're looking for a driven, results oriented and solution focussed Systems Engineer to join our newly established team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join Information Systems and to work collaboratively with defence partners on some of the most exciting engineering projects this country has to offer. This role is involved with a design, build and deliver of a project of national importance within a healthy growing business that is consistently achieving significant annual growth by protecting existing interests, adapting to changing defence landscape and growing into new markets by embracing new technology.
The Programme sits within Babcock Mission Systems. The Project covers the design, installation and in service support of a niche capability within Defence. This is a relatively new system that has been in service for the last year. The deliverable hardware is manufactured by Defence partners and will be managed by our established supply chain.
An initial team of Project Manager, Super User and System Engineer will be required to deliver this capability into the Royal Navy.


The difference our new Systems Engineer will make


You will be part of a small Systems engineering team, within a multi discipline team, delivering new capability into the Royal Navy. Reporting to the Systems Super User, accountability and responsibilities are as follows:-

* Create, publish and maintain all Engineering and ILS Management Plans
* Draft and publish Technical Publications, including; MRI, PBS, CSARs,
* Verify and publish system documentation including STW, HAT & SAT procedures
* Co-ordinate all security aspects as identified within the SoW, including; SMP, RMADS, CoCos, SGGs, DPIAs and act as POC with SAC
* Create and publish the Maintenance Plan including recommendations for inclusion into UMMS.
* Provide Technical Assistance where requested and participate in the Permanent fit design reviews.
* Create and publish the EMC and TEMPEST Test plans and to co-ordinate all EMC and TEMPEST activities iaw the Statement of Work
* Draft, manage and maintain the System Engineering Log / DRACAS log
* Support to defect, OPDEF and S2022 investigations and reporting to platforms (including liaison with the POET / MIXG RN engineers and the Authority)
* Maintain configuration control

Provide Project and Engineering support to the SU and PM as and when required. As a member of the Information Systems Leadership Team, additional responsibilities include:
* Engagement in programme wide initiatives to improve delivery, cost and quality performance together with the working experience of team members across the programme.

Experience


Considerable System Engineering experience in a setting of comparable complexity and requiring a similar set of transferrable skills.

Education and qualifications


Ideally you will be a degree qualified, chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body. Alternatively you may hold an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the system domain.
