Manpower are delighted to be partnering with one of the world's largest logistics companies as they look for a new Manager to join their Sea Logistics Customer Services team.

This is a crucial role that will involve overseeing two successful Customer Service teams, one that deals with imports and one that deals with exports, so it is imperative that this person has previous management experience from a freight/logistics environment, specifically global sea logistics.

The Manager will provide leadership and direction to the Customer Services team, take ownership and ensure the implementation of customer service strategies, ensure budgets and GP targets are hit and will also take control of salaries, overtime and other department costs.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the team and field sales through direct reports
  • Maintaining discipline within the department, in line with company policies and procedures
  • Actively encouraging the training, personal and career development of the team, through the annual Performance Review process and regular review of industry training and certification regulations
  • Actively manage interfaces / information exchange between our Customers and Customer Service teams
  • Focus on customer retention for the Sea Logistics account portfolio
  • Focus on improving customer satisfaction by delivering high quality services
  • Lead local Sea Logistics field sales team, reviewing sales activity and pipeline development and conversion
  • Actively develop and on-board new customer opportunities, including direct visits to customers
  • Active involvement with major accounts for the Customer Service team in conjunction with both Regional, National management and sales
  • Closely liaise with Sales owners to ensure the smooth on-boarding of new customers
  • Ensure service excellence by leveraging a high level of forwarding and market knowledge
  • Contribute as process owner to continuous improvements around processes and controls ensuring lean and cost-efficient methods are adopted
  • To focus on the continuous improvement of processes and controls
  • Enforce policies and procedures in the team
  • Ensuring all team members have adequate tools, equipment and training to perform their tasks

Requirements:

  • Education in Transport and/or Logistics with a qualification in Logistics, either degree or CILT equivalent
  • Management experience in the Transport and/or Logistics sector, ideally with a focus on Sea Logistics
  • Leadership experience in managing a variety of teams
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Full driver's license with flexibility to travel nationally and overseas
  • Travel across the UK

This position will be mainly based at the company's Dartford site but will also include national and overseas travel on occasion. Work hours will typically be Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm but flexibility with hours will be required to suit the needs of the business.
