We're looking for a Security Personnel Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

This is a new role that has been recently introduced to the Devonport site and has the exciting challenge of leading on co-ordination and delivery of a personnel security maturity model, based on seven core elements of effective personnel security processes for the Devonport site. A key part of this role will be supporting in delivering the security strategy and culture change programme.


What will you be doing?
As a Security Personnel Manager you will be leading, coordinating and delivering personnel security arrangements across DRDL. You will also create an open and transparent organisational framework where personnel security is actively promoted as the responsibility of all staff, contractors and visitors, whilst providing appropriate resource and support in implementing a proportionate, multi-disciplinary approach to countering the insider threats.

You will further provide essential management information for the purposes of security planning and people management. You will deliver through the key stages of people risk the importance engaged leadership, demonstrable risk based approach and proactive monitoring. You will be designing, developing and delivering the advance 'response preparation' to an employee incident, minimising damage and retaining customer trust.

The experience you'll bring

You will need protective security experience in the Critical National Infrastructure department. You will also need a good understanding of GovS:007 Security, as well as Knowledge of the Defence Security Policy, and also leading and implementing change.

We would like you to have:

  • Experience in leadership and managing individuals with drive and motivation
  • Knowledge of Government Security Classifications would be advantageous.
  • Influencing skills and good stakeholder management experience for all levels within the organisation.
  • GCSE Mathematics and English level 4.
  • Investigation experience and completed or willing to complete CPNI training pathway.

Lastly, you will need excellent communication skills.

What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
  • Passport, Licences and Qualifications will need to be shown at interview stage.
