We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Assurance Lead professional working within Mission Systems.

Mission Systems is transforming and we need you to support our key leaders in forging new paths, leading their teams through exciting and challenging change. You will be a key partner in the implementation of our ambitious growth plans as part of the Programmes Quality team and you will use your proven experience to promote quality throughout the project lifecycle and supply chain.

Who we're looking for
You will be someone who is a dynamic, diligent and tenacious team player who had a background and interest in the improvement of how we implement quality in an organisation. You will also have leadership characteristics and be comfortable communicating with members of senior management teams, providing clear and concise information and responding in an appropriate manner.

This opportunity would be ideal for an existing experienced Quality professional in a similar role or someone looking to step up and take on this responsibility.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Identifying, planning and implementing a program of activities, via a contract Quality Plan, to provide assurance project throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reporting on programme quality performance internally and to the customer, identifying opportunities to improve. Undertaking investigations and recommending/leading improvement actions because of significant discrepancy, complaint, process failing or trended under-performance.
  • Risk managing project activities, ensuring mitigation in the critical aspects of production and in the final product.
  • Working with the supplier management team to identify, on board, support and maintain performance with our suppliers, working collaboratively to achieve the desired value for our customer.
  • Planning and carrying out audits during the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and that the product is being realised in the appropriate manner, and identifying opportunities to improvement for the project and the business.
  • Ensuring customer feedback is obtained, and their satisfaction is at the right level. Dealing with any customer quality related issues/requests (including complaints) and liaising with the appropriate part of the Programmes organisation to resolve.
  • Ensuring product and documentation deliveries to the customer are in accordance with contractual requirements, through effective project delivery processes that strive for right-first-time performance.

The Experience You'll Bring
You will be a proficient Quality Assurance engineer with considerable practical experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifestyle.

You will have experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems and experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within an organisation.

You will have knowledge of continuous improvement tools and have excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem solving techniques and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g. Pareto, FMEA, 5 Why's, 8D, etc.)

Education and qualifications

  • ONC, HNC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a quality, science, engineering discipline
  • Membership of a recognised quality institute e.g. CQI would be desirable
  • ISO 9001 auditor
