PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Working as part of a small team, you will assist in maintaining and developing the clients infrastructure, estates and technical support systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilities Management and Maintenance
Maintenance (including carrying out fault diagnosis and first line repairs) and upgrade of all plant & emergency/security systemsManagement of subcontractors on site, including implementation of permit to work scheme where appropriateAssist with installation (and where appropriate) commissioning, validation and ongoing maintenance and calibration of plant, equipment and systemsResponsible for facility activities in the absence of the Head of Estates and Technical Services or Senior Facilities Officer.Fire Marshall Duties including fire alarm tests and "test" activationsAssist with and maintain all fire evacuation procedures and fire systems in line with health and safety regulations and legal requirementsAssist in the management of and maintain all permit to work and signing in systems ensuring contractors and visitors are following the company health and safety guidelinesAssist in the day to day assessment and maintenance of the health and safety on site, in line with management requirements, business objectives and current legislationMaintain the high level of security by constantly monitoring and maintaining onsite systems.Ensure that standards and cleaning programs are continuously monitored and improved including housekeeping and stock control
Project & Site Support
Support of sample storage equipment (including bespoke automated ultra-low temperature storage systems housing 15 million irreplaceable biological samples) and the ancillary equipment supporting key laboratory and imaging processes / projects (eg chillers, compressors, etc)Undertake daily checks of key systems (eg sample storage system temperatures) - ensuring that faults do not result in compromised sample integrity (systems monitored 24/7; routine checks carried out 7 days per week)Manage onsite contractors in line with H&S regulations & clients "Permit to Work" system
Stock Control and Asset Management
Manage the stock control system including the receipt, storage and issuing of site and project stockManage the asset control system ensuring all assets are tagged (as appropriate) and are tracked, managed and auditedAssist with PAT testing of electrical equipment

Demonstrable aptitude for using laboratory equipment/software.Work to recognised quality systems and to strict health and safety regulationsAble to work effectively in a team but also to complete agreed tasks with a minimum of supervision; collaborative style (within own area and wider team)Able to work accurately (to verbal or written instructions or to SOPs) and to tight deadlinesWilling and able to travel to Clinic locations in the UK.Full, clean driving licenseSelf-motivated & able to work flexiblyMust be able to plan own workloadAble to listen and clearly communicate results or issuesSets and maintains high standards for self; dissatisfied with average performance
