If so - my client is looking for a Mechanical Technician to work within the mechanical team to maintain all plant machinery including both proactive planned maintenance and breakdown repair.

The key duties for your new role are as follows:

  • Safely applying specialist craft skills for the assembly, dismantling, inspection repair and testing of mechanical equipment
  • Reading and aprehending construction drawings, designs and system schematics to assess equipment, or systems performance and evaluate the cause of any malfunction. Effect necessary repairs and adjustments
  • Receiving Instructions from the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer, Reliability Technician, or from planned lists/CMMS to undertake project and maintenance work on the shift in conjunction with Technicians and other operations/engineering personnel
  • Reinforcing a reliability cantered maintenance approach to identifying and undertaking maintenance tasks on major process assets
  • Assisting in ongoing process control and quality improvement developments through liaison with technical staff including product trial management and evaluation

The Ideal candidate would have the following:

  • Essential - Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering NVQ level 3 (or equivalent)
  • Established skills in general fitting, welding, machining, construction, installation, and maintenance techniques
  • Knowledge of the use of precision measurement equipment and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of the use of hydraulics systems
  • Knowledge of codes and symbols used in drawings for mechanical and hydraulic schemes
  • Computer literacy (ideally conversant in the use of CMMS) and basic office software
  • LOTO
  • Good working knowledge of plant and machinery with the area of responsibility to include forklift trucks and overhead cranes
