Are you an experienced Procurement Professional? Do you enjoy working autonomously and taking ownership of your role?

We are currently looking to recruit an ambitious and highly talented individual to take on the role of Procurement Manager within our client's long-established business.

Reporting to the Group Facilities Manager, the key purpose of this role is to develop, implement and execute a group wide procurement, supplier selection and supplier management strategy in line with overall business objectives.

You will partner with departments across the organisation and be responsible for the ongoing management of the purchasing strategy and supplier activity and for ensuring optimal supplier performance and price.

The Role:

Procurement Strategy

  • Develop, execute, and maintain purchasing strategies and processes that meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets, which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market
  • Continually evaluate macro and local market challenges and their effect on pricing and supply, taking action to mitigate risks ensuring the security and sustainability of sources of essential products

Supplier Development

  • Develop an overall vendor base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage utilising global market exploitation, leveraging spend and strategic partner relationships
  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
  • Negotiate contract terms with key suppliers
  • Ownership of the purchasing policy, guidelines, and any associated documents

Supplier Management

  • Build strong day to day working relationships with suppliers based on mutual trust and recognition
  • Work with demand planning to ensure suppliers receive clearly forecasted demand profiles and that any shortages or delays are managed appropriately
  • Ensure all relevant contract files and documentation are in place and maintained as appropriate
  • Manage ongoing price changes at a supplier level in alignment with agreed terms

The Person:

  • Demonstrable experience of leading a procurement function, with a proven track record in strategic purchasing, delivering effective purchasing strategies, policies, processes, and systems
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities
  • Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines
  • Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Minimum HNC/HND in Business and Finance or equivalent.
  • Fully conversant with contracts law and Codes of Practice relevant to Purchasing.
