HR Assistant (6 month FTC)

Location: Canterbury

Salary: £22-24,000 (pro rata) + additional benefits including Blue Light Card scheme, discount at local shopping centre, counselling & support helpline & subsidised meals

Hours: Monday - Friday, 35 hours a week

HR Assistant currently required to join a large, Kent-based organisation. The HR Assistant will act as the first point of call for anything HR related and will proactively deliver a professional HR service to staff and line managers ensuring HR and People best practice across the organisation.

Responsibilities will include:

Human Resources

  • Delivering the highest levels of service at all times both internally and externally, ensuring HR supports the needs of the business
  • Deal proactively and efficiently with all staffing issues ensuring that we have a modern and forward-thinking approach
  • Ensure that all confidential HR incoming enquiries are dealt with or allocated to the appropriate people in a timely manner
  • Use and update the computerised HR systems as appropriate
  • Provide support to HR processes such as investigation and disciplinary processes
  • To be involved in appropriate HR projects and planning activities
  • Liaise and advise line managers when dealing with staff performance issues

Recruitment

  • Providing support and guidance to hiring managers throughout the recruitment process in in relation to advertising, interviewing and onboarding
  • Support in ensuring all pre-employment checks have been returned prior to employment commencing, including Eligibility Work in the UK, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, references and supporting documents
  • Follow guidelines with regard to information governance and confidentiality

HR Support

  • Providing HR Support to the management of the function on all HR processes, such as recruitment, training and employee relations
  • Ensuring recruitment activities remain in line with the budgeted establishment
  • Develop and embed HR Best Practice across the function
  • Point of Contact from managers and staff for general HR queries
  • Ensuring employee relations across the function remain in line with employment legislation and organisation policy and process through coaching of line managers
