Job Title: Chief Engineer - Electrical, Control and Instrumentation
Location: Flexible

Job Purpose
Provide Governance across all Engineering and technical activities within a defined market sector, ensure technical capability and capacity meets the current and future operational and strategic demand.

Develop people, processes and systems in support of the strategic direction of the Business market sector.

  • Develop and maintain a set of standard role profiles for all recognised core roles
  • Develop and maintain standard arrangements (including criteria) for the SQEP Assessments for recognised core roles
  • Development and Maintenance of Central Repository for SQEP Assessments
  • Develop and maintain a set of standard role specific induction checklists and materials for new employees or employees changing roles
  • Developing and maintaining a Subject Matter Advisor (SMA) framework including a central repository
  • Developing and maintaining a Appointed Person framework including a central repository
  • Review significant samples of completed line delivered PDRs and offer improvement advice to the business
  • Facilitate career development seminars
  • Monitor industry trends and to ensure arrangements consider latest best practice
  • Manage relationships with external bodies like IET, IMECHE, etc.
  • Support the development of tools needed by Engineering to work effectively
  • Support Assurance activities as requested
  • Offer advice to Business Units of effective management of discipline resources
  • Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer and Member of relevant Institute
  • Engineering degree or qualification in relevant engineering discipline
  • Substantial demonstrable competence post degree / qualification covering a range of engineering and/or technical topics and demonstrable people leadership experience
