Job title: Safeguarding Team Leader

Location: Home Based (London and the South East)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the Safeguarding Manager and Safeguarding Team. To act as a First Point of Contact for all internal and external Safeguarding enquiries and referrals.

The aim of this role is to positively contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of our Service Users and staff. Ensuring action is taken to promote their welfare, protect them from harm, being accountable for decisions and taking action to have the best possible outcomes through advice and guidance on safeguarding matters to staff.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The SG T/L will have safeguarding responsibility and oversight of 2 large contracts
  • The SG T/L will have a responsibility on an operational day to day basis to promote the safeguarding of Service Users and ensuring that a stable and secure accommodation environment is provided.
  • Develop and maintain external links with local safeguarding teams bringing community expertise to the safeguarding strategy.
  • To effectively conduct robust initial investigations of all safeguarding concerns raised by Service Users, their families, colleagues and/or external parties/professionals to legislative and best practice requirements. It is expected that the SG T/L will conduct evidence-based investigations and be empathetic towards the needs of our service users and staff concerned.
  • To collate information on any new safeguarding referrals, and to submit a Safeguarding Incident Report (SIR) to the Safeguarding Manager when necessary.
  • To ensure that all concerns and safeguarding information is logged and stored securely in line with GDPR and company Policies.
  • To collate organisation wide information on any safeguarding matters, and to make referrals to the line manager.
  • To act as Deputy Safeguarding Manager in the absence of the Safeguarding Manager.
  • To support the Safeguarding Manager by assisting with HR and Payroll taskings including the authorisation of Mileage and Expenses Claims made by SG Team Members.
  • To Support the Safeguarding Manager and Safeguarding Team by conducting 1-2-1 Meetings with Team Members.
  • To Support the Safeguarding Manager and Safeguarding Team by conducting Quarterly Personal Development and Key Performance Objective Meetings.
  • To Support the Safeguarding Manager by providing a Safeguarding Management Response outside core working Office Hours (OOH) when the Safeguarding Manager is unavailable.
  • To Support the Safeguarding Manager by providing a presence at Strategic and Operational Meetings with the Authority and Stakeholders when the Safeguarding Manager is not available.
  • To monitor the work levels, progress and development of Safeguarding Team Members, and to assist

TEAM WORKING

  • Liaise regularly with line manager and team members
  • Helping/providing cover for other team members as required
  • Provide high-level cover for other staff as agreed by line manager.
  • To organise weekly informal Coffee Catch-Up Meetings (X-Overs) on a fortnightly.
  • To organise and attend Monthly Team and other staff meetings.
  • To assist and support the Safeguarding Manager in delivering Safeguarding Training to staff when requested by Human Resources and or a 'case by case' refresher basis when requested by Line Management.
