We have an exciting opportunity within the Radioactive Waste Management team. You will work within the Radioactive Waste Management Section (RWM) and this comprises of the Plant Manager Radioactive Waste, Principal Health Physicist (RWM) and Senior Health Physicist (RWM). The section is set up to deal primarily with Radioactive Waste Management processes and disposals of radioactive waste generated within Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited (DRDL).


Who we are looking for?
We are looking for a determined individual with a great interest in Radioactive waste who has a science degree with a significant Health Physics background to provide guidance and advice across teams, on safety and the appropriate legal way to dispose offsite.

What will you be doing?
1) Provide professional Health Physics and Radiation Protection advice, direction and support to managers, employees, contractors and others.
2) Manage and oversee Health Physics and Radiation Protection tasks in accordance with current legislation and company policy, tasking includes:
a) Processing, storage and disposal of radioactive waste
b) Consignment of radioactive material
c) Portable and installed radiation and contamination monitoring equipment
d) Preparation of radiological safety related documentation

The experience you'll bring
You will need to be willing to complete a degree within MSC Radiology and Environmental Protection, Naval MSC in HMS Sultan in Radiological Protection or Waste Disposal. We will develop you alongside you completing your degree within the company.


* Degree in a scientific topic
* Significant Health Physics background
* Worked within a Nuclear site (radiological working).
* Relevant knowledge and experience of radioactive waste management processes and techniques
* Proficient use in Microsoft Office software
* You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
