CAE Drivetrain Simulation Engineer.

(Battery / Hybrid Strategy).

Warwickshire (M40 corridor).

Flexible working available.

As one of the most prestigious brands in the world, my client is a manufacturer of high-end vehicles and has a British heritage spanning over a century. With their headquarters in Warwickshire, their iconic range of vehicles are the dreams of many and sold from 160 dealerships in 53 countries.

With a new leadership team and strategic expansion plans, a number of opportunities have arisen within their organisation and they are now looking for a CAE Drivetrain Simulation Engineer, with a background in battery / hybrid strategy, to join them. Does this sound like the type of company that can offer you an exciting next step of your career?

Working alongside a team of design and test engineers, to support the release of the component system, the right person for this role will deliver engine and battery virtual validation simulations to optomise and analytically prove product attribute targets. You will also take ownership of the coordination of batter, engine and drivetrain simulation and virtual validation planning; both internally and externally.

Additional responsibilities for this role, are as follows:

  • Developing simulation methodologies and carrying out necessary cell, module and battery pack electro-thermal simulations, to support all battery projects.
  • Supporting the development of a hybrid strategy for upcoming high-performance cars.
  • Building RCR element cell models from cell measured / supplier data.
  • Generating reduce order module and pack battery models that can be integrated into system level simulations.
  • Providing simulation input to battery pack DVP activities, with the aim of structuring the virtual validation activities.
  • Representing the simulation team within project meetings.
  • Developing simulation methodologies and carrying out necessary thermal runaway, propagation and vent gas management to support battery projects.
  • Creating and owning analytical DVP and ensuring alignment with physical DVP.
  • Integration of system level models into module / pack levels simulations.
  • Construction of simulation models within existing naming, numbering and model construction processes.
  • Assisting in target setting process, including development of design standards and methodology.
  • Presenting results at a range of levels within the organisation.
  • Coordinating and tracking of external service providers and reporting regular updates on timing, costs and project progress.

Primary relationships for this role will be the main customers of the Simulation team and the Powertrain department. There will also be regular interaction with other departments, such as Programme, Battery Development, Vehicle Dynamics, Manufacturing and Body Engineering.

This is a Senior level position and my client is keen to have conversations with those with significant expertise in battery and driveline simulation / development roles in multiple launch cycles and the gravitas to manage and develop external resource simultaneously.

In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary plus annual performance bonus, for this permanent role. An excellent remuneration package also includes a company vehicle, private medical cover and 26 days holiday per year, plus Bank holidays.
