Position: Filling Supervisor

Location- Plymouth

Full-time, temp to permanent position.

Salary: £24,000-£25,500 per annum, depending on experience, plus, attractive benefits.5

The Production and Engineering team at Calor Gas are looking to recruit an engaging and proactive Filling Supervisor, leading a team to safety meet the shift production targets on the Cylinder filling lines. Ensure all cylinders filled are to the correct Calor quality specifications

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure Safety is always the number one priority at all times on site. Take personal ownership for your own safety and that of your team. Ensure all hazard spots and near misses are reported, and take immediate action to eliminate workplace risks and hazards
  • Support, facilitate and take accountability for the team to deliver the daily production targets set by the Shift Lead
  • Responsible for making sure all cylinders filled are safe and adhere to Calor's quality specifications
  • Ensure a competent filling plant team, delivering focussed training and competency sign off against all relevant work instructions.
  • Responsible for a team of operators taking ownership of their safety, production and quality performance
  • Eliminate defects in production and avoid rework. Identify and put in to place improvements to safe, reliable and efficient production on the filling lines. Review assigned Safe System Of Work (SSOW) documents ensuring information is relevant, follows best practise and is current
  • Ensure team and personal adherence to all applicable site rules, PPE requirements, work instructions, training, risk assessments and Calor instructions.
  • Train new inductees (direct & indirect) and support their integration into the team, as well as providing ongoing training to existing team members
  • Deal with problems as they occur during the shift and contribute to driving continuous improvement across activities
  • May need to deputise for the Shift Lead during holidays & absence
  • May be required to form part of the onsite emergency response team

As such we would like you to:

  • Essential that safety is the number one priority and leads by example at all times
  • Adopt a right first-time approach and take ownership for the quality of the final product and reduce rework
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively lead and develop high-performing teams (desirable)
  • The technical competence to develop and improve production & efficiency levels using available equipment & resources (essential)
  • Its essential the role holder can follow and develop technical procedures and recommend improvements
  • Able to react effectively to emerging issues and take action to remain on track to meet objectives
  • Strong performance focus
  • UKAS certified cylinder inspector (desirable, )
  • People skills with the ability to motivate and engage staff
  • Can work effectively without constant supervision
  • Clear communicator
  • Reliable
  • Previous experience of supervising production teams would be very beneficial.
