Manpower are recruiting 3 Medical Laboratory Assistants within a busy setting. This is an amazing and exciting opportunity for the right candidate who wants to pursue a career in Microbiology.

The role offers an hourly rate is £9.09 weekdays, £12.27 Saturdays & nights and £15.36 Sundays & Bank Holidays. The hourly rate will increase after the first 12 weeks completed to £10.40 weekdays, £14.04 Saturdays & nights and £17.58 Sundays & Bank Holidays.

About the role:

You will be working alongside Consultant Pathologists, Dissection Practitioners and Senior Staff within the laboratory setting to ensure that Covid test samples are tested and analysed. This is a high-pressure environment due to the current climate. It is imperative that results are produced as quickly as possible for patients in the Emergency Wards to know if they are Covid positive or negative.

This role does involve working with bio-hazardous, corrosive, and flammable chemicals so previous experience of working within a laboratory environment is highly desirable, but not essential.

You will work on a rota that will provide you with shifts around the clock. The candidate must be flexible. You will be required to do 5 shifts per week and the shift times are 07:00-15:00, 14:00-22:00 and 21:00-08:00.

  • Scientific background preferable
  • An exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to maintain high levels of concentration over long periods of time
  • A high standard of numeracy and literacy skills
  • To work well in high pressured environments
  • To be physically fit and to stand on your feet for long periods of time

Due to the nature of this role you will need to have all your standard injections up to date.
