We have an exciting opportunity for you to work with and on behalf of Babcock Rail and the Rail Systems Alliance Scotland comprising of 3 Alliance partners; Babcock Rail, Arcadis, & Network Rail. Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Accountant who will ideally have previous experience in engineering or the construction industry. However, a strong and confident personality, a real team player as well as the ability to adapt to change are all key attributes to securing this role.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Project Accountant, you will play a key role in reporting requirements, the production of accurate and timely project financial information, ensuring robust financial controls, providing maximum efficiency of processes and reporting, and a strong corporate governance in line with Babcock Group & Alliance Customer & Stakeholder requirements.

Your duties will include:

  • Working with the Senior Finance Manager, Project, Operations, and Commercial teams in improving and maintaining the processes used to operate and control project financial performance.
  • Liaising appropriately with all Alliance stakeholders. As well as managing the interests of the parent company, this will entail being cogniscent of & managing both the peer / joint stakeholder & supplier / customer relationships, leading on presentations as required and tasked by the Senior Finance Manager.
  • Deputising for the Senior Finance Manager as and when required.
  • Ensuring that Company & Alliance policies are implemented consistently and that the core values of the Company & Alliance concerning people are upheld with fairness, equal opportunity and work-life balance.

The experience you'll bring

You will need to be a Qualified Accountant.

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Project Accounting Experience.
  • Experience of working with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors is desirable.
  • Strong business/process analysis skills.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills at all levels.

Lastly, you will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
