This is your opportunity to join Babcock as an Occupational Psychologist within our Transformation Programme. You will be joining the unique and exciting Warships support team at HM Naval Base Devonport. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Psychologist, to apply psychological knowledge, theory and practice to organisational issues in the workplace in support of Warships Business Transformation objectives, primarily to improve productivity, employee job satisfaction and overall effectiveness of the business. This is a new approach for us; we operate a large, international, heavy industrial ship-repair and support business and are keen to benefit from developments in behavioural science and practices, to make our business both more competitive and a better place to work.

What will you be doing?

You will lead a small Occupational Psychology Team, providing specialist advice and support to various transformational activities. Typically this will involve: research activity, both on-site and academic literature; occupational psychology advice to various teams; and developing, implementing and measuring specific interventions. You will work with a wide range of teams, including human resources, central human factors, and various service delivery groups. You will be a core part of our desire to look at workplace challenges in a different way, to join up productivity, job satisfaction and overall effectiveness, in order to deliver world class engineering support services to our customers.

The experience you'll bring

You'll need a track record in delivering Occupational Psychology advice, support and interventions, preferably in a large industrial environment. You'll have a post-graduate qualification in a Psychology-related discipline and equivalent professional body membership.
You will also need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
