We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to become our new Bid Manager supporting on the co-ordination of all Bid / Business winning activities.

The Support Value Stream is a business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, Support works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. We're based at a number of sites in the UK and, increasingly, overseas. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic, and driven people.

The difference our new Bid Manager will make

Using your experience, you will be managing the development and production of winning bids which are submitted on time, to budget and at the required quality level. You will identify, brief, and provide direction to the multi-disciplined bid team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the Marine and Technology Business Winning process is observed
  • Facilitating pre-bid phase / development work and generating bid schedule milestones
  • Monitoring bid progress to critical milestones and agreed bid budget.
  • Complying with the governance and gated process in a timely fashion to allow for sufficient review and sanction prior to bid submission
  • Liaising with the Opportunity Owner and wider business to ensure all required Gate approvals gained are met
  • Management and development of the Bid Co-ordinator

Who we're looking for

  • You will have demonstrable experience in tendering and in the Shipley bidding process (or similar).
  • Experience in leading large proposals and ideally within the Defence industry or other heavily regulated environment
  • Experience of project management and / or an understanding of project management principles
  • Leadership and people management experience

Skills & attributes

  • Computer literacy, with a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint is essential for this role
  • Flexible and open to changing priorities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and within compressed timeframes
  • Creative, with a proven ability to take an initiative from concept, through development and into implementation
  • Great commercial acumen
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills within a dynamic team environment
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills

Education and Qualifications

  • Ideally you will be degree qualified or have equivalent experience
  • Project Management Qualifications
  • APMP (desirable)
