Where you will be working

When you ring 999 your call goes through to one of 2 Clinical Hub's based in Exeter and Bristol. Trained Emergency Medical Dispatchers are the first point of contact to the ambulance service for people experiencing a medical emergency. Not every call you deal with will be a matter of life or death but the way you listen, interpret and deal with the calls will make a vital difference to the patients we serve every day. Applicants will need to have the ability to deal with stressful and emotional situations whilst being highly motivated.

The role

  • To ensure safe, high quality and consistent dispatch as determined by the triage process or policy, ensuring that all incidents are always dispatched on in time and priority order, escalating concerns to the Dispatch Team Leader
  • To escalate concerns, issues, and incidents
  • To ensure that a consistent culture of high quality and safe patient care is adopted
  • Undertake appropriate management of the Trust resources within their dispatch area allocating rest periods and ensuring breaks or unavailability are managed appropriately and in line with policy

About you

  • 4 GCSEs at C grade or above, including English (or equivalent)
  • Good keyboard skills
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Be prepared to work shifts (24/7 rota providing cover on weekends, nights and bank holidays)
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure

You will be required to start this role on 9th May 2022 and attend 3 weeks of classroom-based training (Mon-Fri). As this is a permanent position, you will undergo an interview with Manpower and then a final interview with our client.

This role offers 35% pay enhancements for Saturdays and 69% for Sundays and bank holidays.
