Customs Clearance Clerk

Manpower are currently looking for an experienced Customs Clearance Clerk to join a well-established logistics organisation in Sittingbourne.

With over 100 years of experience in the industry, this organisation offers personalised forwarding, customs clearance and warehousing services to a variety of clients and is the trusted partner for large food and beverage importers, suppliers and manufacturers.

This role is ideal for someone who is fully conversant with all aspects of import/export documentation and clearing procedures with at least 1 year's experience submitting declarations to CHIEF and Destin8 / CNS systems.

The responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with internal and external contacts
• Working with importers/exporters and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for import and export entries
• Accurately completing HMRC entries and necessary documentation
• Assisting customers on the classification of goods
• Using Customs related software including CHIEF, Destin8, CNS and NES
• Obtaining relevant licenses for different types of goods for imports

The Customs Clearance Clerk will have a good understanding of import/export procedures across all commodities including port health requirements and documentation including CVED's.

Based in the Sittingbourne office.

Work hours will be 08.30 - 17.00 Monday to Friday with a flexible attitude as there may be a requirement for occasional out of hours work that can done remotely.
