Data Centre Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation. Our client, a blue-chip IT company, is currently seeking a Data Centre Engineer covering customer sites in Doxford and Wynyard. This is a full-time, permanent role, predominately days shifts across a 28-day cycle Monday to Friday 7am - 7pm or 7pm to 7am. The role is paying up £22,000 plus uplift for nightshift hours

Our client has a requirement for a Data Centre Support Engineer to work as part of a team providing network and infrastructure support across two large data centres in Doxford and Wynyard

You will need to be able to obtain security clearance for this role

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Media Management (media coming on to site and also being shipped off site)
• Data centre logistics
• Site access management
• Escorting DC visitors
• Infrastructure support hands and eyes tasks
• Equipment asset tagging
• Electronic asset updates via DOMS (electronic asset management system)
• Asset auditing via DOMS
• Equipment Installation and decommissioning work

Essential Skills:

• Basic understanding of IT operations or experience in a data centre environment
• Strong loyalty with regard to data and DC facility security
• Competent and professional communication with a commercial attitude over the phone
• Capacity to understand and clarify customer expectations effectively
• Capacity to manage customer expectations and interactions effectively
• Basic understanding of server HW (console, devices…)
• Ability to handle various types of media, devices, and libraries
• Generic media management knowledge
