An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with Brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum, based at their manufacturing facility in Crumlin, Caerphilly, South Wales.

This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 9 months with possibility of extension, working a 40-hour week, (Mon-Fri) to start ASAP. This role is paying up to £60,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.

*Due to the urgent nature of this role, we cannot accept any applications that have a longer notice period of 1 month!!

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies worldwide and become part of a passionate and brand-driven team in the Crumlin factory.

The main elements of this role are twofold:


  • To address key maintenance gaps/improvement areas
  • To drive change projects within the factory

  • Key Experience Required:

    • Experience of leading an engineering team as an engineering manager or similar role
    • Experience of maintenance improvement and managing change within an engineering environment is essential for this role
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, pressurised role, driving improvement and positive leadership
    • Contactable out of hours and at weekends via telephone is a necessity for this role

    Main responsibilities:

    • The site Engineering Manager role is vital to the success of the factory. They are responsible for leading the Engineering team in delivery of a strong maintenance and improvement project agenda/change programme.
    • They will be expected to ensure regulatory compliance, have the ability to upskill the team and drive site performance by using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.
    • Strongly support the occupational safety, food safety and quality agenda on site
      Lead, manage and develop the Engineering team across site covering maintenance, shift, utilities and projects to support the demands of the factory.
    • Develop and deploy a continuous learning and upskilling program for the Engineering team, ensuring they are 'future fit'.
    • Relentlessly work on the agenda to improve site efficiency and reduction of waste by ensuring there is a strong strategy in place and that it is delivered against.
    • Engage with the Operations team on day-to-day issues to ensure the right support is in place from the Engineering team.
    • Lead the process safety agenda and ensure regulatory compliance, being the competent person on site for a range of duties.
    • Take ownership of the R&M budget, ensuring cost-saving measures are in place, and oversee capex expenditure.
    • Drive the recruitment strategy for the Engineering team, to ensure a motivated, diversely skilled team that can deliver.
