Job Title: Principal ILS Engineer

Location: Plymouth, Devonport

About the role.
Babcock Mission Systems is looking for a Principal ILS Engineer to help us deliver and support through-life, a broad range of complex equipment to a range of customers including the British Army and the Royal Navy.

This exciting opportunity will see you play a leading role in developing how Babcock Mission Systems implements ILS and also to be involved in the journey as we move to fully adopt the ASD International Specifications for Integrated Product Support. As such, the successful candidate will be expected to take a lead on an IPS element, growing the team, processes and tools to enable us to deliver first class support solutions to our customers. Equally, this role will lead on the delivery of ILS programmes for exciting opportunities incorporating new technologies into platforms (and the whole platform too in some cases). Clearly a busy role, there may also be the need to provide ILS input to future bidding activities. This role will operate across all stages of the product lifecycle and will have the opportunity to influence the design of equipment with both internal designers and external suppliers.

This role requires a broad range of skills as you will be working directly with customers/users, other areas of Babcock (such as P3M, Supply Chain and Data Analysis), and external suppliers/partners; the role may require some hands on engineering and analysis.

What do I need to do the role.
You'll have extensive experience in ILS/IPS, ideally with experience of delivering to the UK MOD.
You will also have some of the following experience, skills and knowledge requirements:
Knowledge of UK MOD's Knowledge in Defence (KiD) and associated standards including Def Stan 00-600, and the International specification for Integrated Product Support, as published by the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) (Essential).
Previous experience in the maintenance of complex military equipment (Desirable).
Experience of operating in a Project Environment (Essential).
A proven track record of influencing designs for supportability (Essential)

Skills and attributes
You're someone who thrives on challenge. You will be a driven individual with a desire to make a positive impact resulting in successful outcomes.
You feel at ease working collaboratively with internal and external customers, taking the lead where necessary.
You'll have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to liaise at all levels with both customers and stakeholders.

Education and Qualifications
Ideally you will be qualified to HNC level as a minimum in a relevant subject.

What else do I need to know?

* All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to satisfactory security clearance which includes 3 years reference checks. Verification of any qualifications/passport/licences must be shown at interview stage.
* We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview
