This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an experienced team, giving you exposure to systems/processes and equipment unique to the shiplift building which is one of the largest facilities in the world and hosts a 25,000 tonne lifting capacity.
Who we are looking for?
We are looking for an Electrical Fitter who will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical control and protection systems, electrical overhead travelling cranes and other electrical equipment in the Shiplift facility. Utilising their skill set to determine the best way to investigate, rectify and repair faults. Also act as a mentor to colleagues and provides guidance and instruction to one or more apprentices under their care and provide direction to Multi Skilled Operatives.
What will you be doing?- Completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
- Completion of all defect and repair activity to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
- Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
- Operate Shiplift systems and equipment in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Undertake mentoring where required to personnel in the operation & maintenance of Shiplift systems and equipment
- Conduct Berthing & Docking activities.
- Previous Electrical Fitter experience within an engineering, marine or industrial environment. Experience of working with a wide variety of different systems commonly found in heavy engineering environments would be an advantage.
Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 or HNC and above in an Electrical engineering discipline with relevant work experience.
- You will be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weather conditions.
- You will be able to understand and read drawings and have the ability to think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards.
- Experience of Maintenance Procedures, Risk, and COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent team working and interpersonal skills.
- Candidates must demonstrate that they meet and uphold our Purpose and Principles.
