I have an excellent opportunity for a Driver Trainer to work for one of the largest and most diverse trailer fleets in the industry. The role of the Driver Trainer is to train is to educate and update Haulage Drivers on the methods, procedures and legislation appropriate to facilitating safe & efficient completion of their duties including the preparation and delivery of driver CPC training.

As the Driver Trainer, you will be training new and existing drivers in specific areas relating to loading / offloading of pallets, roll cages and other delivery formats and / or specific delivery/collection point which are procedure specific. Assisting and reporting to the general manager and directors to Review, update and retrain existing drivers on procedures and process relevant to general company principles and procedures including health and safety policies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for GB based Drivers and should be able to work flexible hours.

Duties:

  • Training of new and existing drivers in specific areas relating to loading / offloading of pallets, roll cages and other delivery formats and / or specific delivery/collection point which are procedure specific as well as on rigid lorry and arctic combinations.

  • Induction and training of newly recruited drivers in the procedures and processes relevant to the role and to general company principles including health and safety policies.

  • Formally assess all company HGV drivers and evaluate driver's performance, utilising the telemetric systems.
    Review, update and retrain existing drivers on procedures and process relevant to general company principles and procedures including health and safety policies.

  • Ensure drivers are looked after, are clean, tidy and presentable in appearance and are fully equipped with the relevant company uniform and equipment while being kept up to date with latest customer requirements. Participate with defect reporting management and complete investigatory meetings when required.

  • Report to the general manager on health and safety issues (including near misses) and participate in health and safety forum meetings, risk management meetings, driver meetings and CPC course development and instruction.

  • Assess potential drivers as part of the recruitment and selection process.

  • Undertake random staff drug and alcohol testing, using the in-house testing equipment.

Requirements:

  • Hold a clean Class 1(C & E) licence
  • At least 1 year experience of working in a similar role, road transport operations (loading and unloading)
  • At least 1 years LGV Driver training experience including economic driving techniques and health and safety
  • Working Knowledge of transport legislation's

  • National / International Operator CPC qualification
  • Advanced Driver Qualification
  • Driving Instructor/ Assessor qualification
  • Health & Safety qualification

£36,000 - £40,000 working Monday to Friday - flexible hours, plus extensive benefits and career progression opportunities.
