This is your opportunity to join Babcock as a Project Controller. Here at Babcock International Group in Rosyth we aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.

Here at Babcock International, our Marine Engineering & Systems (MES) business unit is expanding rapidly with complex, high-profile defence projects including Type 31 Frigate Design & Build Programme and the Successor Programme as well as providing engineering services to the UK Surface Ship and Submarine fleet.

The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable, and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment. The Project is the pathfinder and cornerstone of the National Shipbuilding Strategy and will be delivered in an innovative manner at pace with all 5 ships to be in-service by Dec 2028.

Who we are looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity to support this high-profile and fast-paced project as a Project Controller. We're looking for you to bring, or develop, previous experience with reporting and performance management, to support the Type 31 project. You will be an eager individual willing to learn and adapt, and comfortable communicating at different levels, including talking to directors.

What will you be doing?

As a Project Controller you will provide general support to the Type 31 Project Controls function and will help understand performance metrics. You will lead support across schedule management, change management, document management, developing Project Packs, reporting metrics, and liaising with relevant discipline leads within the project. You will develop, implement, and maintain the project baseline budgets including cost control account plans and responsibility assignment matrix. Develop and maintain Project Risk & Opportunity registers and manage the mitigation actions for areas of responsibility. Support with Contract Management and Change Management, ensuring the Programmes processes are being followed ensuring swift and controlled implementation. Whilst understanding limitations within Contract, and support teams within those limitations.

The experience you will bring

  • Ideally will have previous experience in Project Controls such as: Budgets & Cost control, Change Management, Earned Value Management, and Contract Management.
  • Ideally have APM or equivalent qualifications.
  • APM/ Prince2 equivalent would be beneficial but not essential.
  • IT literate, able to use Excel.

Lastly, you will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements, this will require you to be eligible of achieving Security Clearance.
