FCL Import Operator

Manpower are recruiting for an FCL Import Operator on behalf of an existing client to be based with in their Sea Freight Team.

My client is one of the largest British privately owned international Freight and Logistics Company in the UK.

Working with an unrivalled network of professional partners across the world. The company are experts in all major Global trade markets and specialists in Europe, China, South East Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent and have supply chain products and services that are unique to our their sector and attractive to their clients.

The main focus of the FCL Import Operator is to provide high level customer service to clients. Within this role you will gain an insight into the day to day operations of the import department as well as commercial skills and relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

• Chasing customs clearance document from customers prior to vessel arrival
• Answering email queries in a timely manner
• Collecting all the correct documentation prior to release/delivery of cargo
• Arranging haulage with shipping lines/haulers
• Ensuring shipments are rated and invoiced correctly
• Negotiating and agreeing haulage prices with suppliers
• Securing any payment cleared funds for COD accounts prior to release/delivery of cargo
• Processing supplier invoices
• Completing customer and supplier spreadsheets
• Securing payment cleared funds for duty/vat invoices prior to release/delivery of cargo
• Resolving any customers queries or complaints

Essential Skills And Experience

• Previous experience in general Imports/sea freight operations (minimum 2 years)
• Previous experience of shipping goods from the Far East, Indian Sub Continent and North American markets
• IT Literate - Excel and Word are essential
• Excellent attention to detail
• Driven and self-motivated
• Proactive problem-solving capability
