An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Babcock as an Electrical Fitter (Utilities). This team delivers a broad scope of maintenance and defect repair across the site on both HV systems and LV Jetty/Utility Systems and site Standby/generation equipment. The team utilise sophisticated testing measures on-site for the equipment under their remit such as; dielectric breakdown, dissolved gas analysis and TEV/Ultrasonic. Work is varied day-to-day.

Many training courses will be provided including the ME19 HV switchgear course.


Working within a team who support on a vast scope of work on many types of HV switchgear and transformers carrying out oil testing with Hi-tech equipment such as Dissolve Gas Analysis (DGA), Ultra Tev testing and Dielectric Breakdown.

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for an Electrical Fitter (Utilities) who can demonstrate a strong focus on delivering high quality workmanship to agreed timescales and are fully aware of the importance of applying stringent Health and Safety principles within the workplace, along with strong team working and interpersonal skills.
You must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weather conditions, and enjoy working in a complex and challenging environment

What will you be doing?
* Completion of all planned preventative maintenance to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business
* Carry out planned maintenance and defect repair on site HV Systems and Jetty/Utilities LV Equipment to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
* Completion of all defect and repair activity to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
* Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity and safety in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
* Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes in accordance with Clyde policies.
* Operate Utilities systems and equipment in accordance with relevant procedures.
* Undertake mentoring where required to personnel in the operation & maintenance of Utilities systems and equipment
* Perform any reasonable task within your existing skills and capability, as directed.

The experience you'll bring
* Previous experience gained within an electrical fitter maintenance role.
* Recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ level 3 (or NVQ or City Guilds) or industry experience and HND or above in an Electrical Discipline
* Experience gained in a High Voltage electrical environment or previous experience of working with electrical shore supplies and Utilities generation equipment would be an advantage
* Well-developed team working (strong team ethic) and interpersonal skills.
* Candidates must demonstrate that they meet and uphold our Purpose and Principles.
* You should also hold or have the ability to obtain full SC Clearance
