The Engineering Support Hub is a key customer facing department within the Engineering Services Business Unit, responsible for delivering design solutions for extensive and diverse infrastructure upgrades and improvements across the entire Devonport site and often beyond.

The demands on our facilities are constantly changing as the pursuit of modern safety standards, adopting an Asset Management approach, and changing requirements drives the need for revised and enhanced engineering solutions.

Who we are looking for?

As an Engineering Design Manager, we are looking for you to have a strong technical background and a sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice. You will have experience of the design lifecycle, cost control and scheduling, and the ability to self-manage and produce information and outputs with little guidance. We are looking for you to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you manage and engage with multiple stakeholders.

We welcome applicants from all engineering backgrounds including but not limited to; project management, design management, electrical, mechanical, systems.

What will you be doing?

As an Engineering Design Manager, you will be significant in managing the delivery of assigned single, and multi-discipline, design projects to the required scope, quality standards, schedule and cost in support of modifications and upgrades to Devonport's infrastructure. You will utilise your experience and competence to integrate with a multidisciplinary organisation acting as the single point of technical contact for all stakeholders, including our external supply chain.

You will be involved with a diverse range of infrastructure projects to operate, maintain, and enhance the capability of the Naval Base. You will be responsible for managing the technical elements of projects to enable desired outcomes by assessing user and safety requirements as well as reporting progress to the Engineering Delivery Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing part of our business undergoing significant transformation to support the Devonport Facilities requirements of the Future Maritime Support Programme.

The experience you'll bring

You are required to have a degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and be a Chartered Engineer, or working towards registration as a Chartered Engineer, with a relevant professional engineering institution.

You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
