An exciting opportunity to join Babcock at Devonport Dockyard as Security Policy, Investigations and Assurance Manager. Achieving and maintaining security arrangements across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE) is critical to ensure Babcock is effective in supporting and delivering Defence outputs. You will play a key role in developing and integrating safety and security policies to ensure we deliver the required security effect.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for an individual who is experienced in assurance to provide leadership and management in the delivery of testing and providing of assurance against the Security Strategy, the Security Statement and the Security Management Arrangements. Due to the nature of the work at Devonport, you will have experience with complex policies and bringing them all together.

As Security Policy, Investigations and Assurance Manager, you will experience with dealing with various stakeholders and have high-level customer service skills to deal with complex situations. You will have the experience to develop and undertake procedures for inspection, testing and maintenance of the security system to provide confidence that security system delivery is being effectively managed and the ability to deliver the required security effect is achieved.

What will you be doing?

As Security Policy, Investigations and Assurance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and improving the management of security delivery during normal operations, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Developing and producing a logical and hierarchical set of documents using policy, process and procedures that describe in detail the requirements for managing all elements of Nuclear and Non-Nuclear Security delivery.
  • Working to develop, improve and maintain a hierarchy of written security management arrangements, ensuring that documentation, guides, templates, process instructions and plans are under appropriate configuration control.
  • Working with others including nuclear safety and using industry best practice lead on the review and development of group lead security policies and procedures ensuring that appropriate site governance is in place.
  • Lead on assurance processes and independently assessed tests that provide leading assurance.

The experience you'll bring

  • Proven experience in Assurance and Policy with significant people management skills.
  • Competent in security risk analysis and management, including defining and developing organisational governance and oversight arrangements.
  • Security Management qualification (or relevant experience).
  • Relevant ISO 9001 or 27001 qualifications or equivalent with experience.
  • You'll be capable of leading a small team performing audits, assurance activities and compliance inspections.
  • While experience in the nuclear industry is certainly helpful, it is not essential, and you may have worked in another high-hazard industry or within the security arena.
  • Desirable to be a Certified Nuclear Security Professional with WINS.

You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
