Job Title: Cabinet Maker

Location: St Albans

Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum

Hours: Monday - Friday 07:30 - 16:30

Type: Permanent


Main responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage a job from pre-manufacture through to completion, ensuring that each job is completed on schedule and to our very high standards
  • Be highly competent in the use of woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools and able to use them confidently in line with Health and Safety regulations
  • Read and accurately follow the manufacturing plans on the CAD drawings
  • Work on free standing pieces of furniture, kitchen or utility room cabinets, as well as larger items of furniture such as wardrobes or media units
  • Keep the workshop safe, tidy and 'visitor ready' and ensure that tools are placed back in the right place at the end of the day
  • Sign for deliveries and check the contents to ensure they are correct and fit for purpose
  • Work with the team to ensure the smooth running of each project
  • Assist the installation team and deliver furniture and appliances to clients as required
  • Complete timesheets and ensure they are signed off by the workshop manager

Skills and behaviours required:

  • Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of cabinet/furniture making techniques, different materials and finishes
  • Experience working with both solid wood and veneer with an in-depth understanding of the different techniques and processes used to create bespoke furniture
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven project and time management skills
  • Ability to work well with other members of the team and interact with clients and suppliers in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of manufacturing production and processes
  • Competent in maths and able to confidently read and follow measurements
