Babcock International have vacancies for CAD Technicians to join our Marine & Engineering Systems Division in an effort to help deliver and grow our design support capability. With a diverse product portfolio, we offer an exciting opportunity to join an ever-growing business with longevity. Projects include International Naval Ship design as well as design packages to support submarine and surface ship refits for the Royal Navy.

Working within in a department that offers a friendly, flexible working environment, with further opportunities for progression within the Company, you will collaborate with experienced designers and technicians and be responsible for using Computer Aided Design systems to create Engineering design information (primarily models and drawings) from supplied data and to the stipulated requirements and standards.

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for experienced CAD Technicians to be predominantly involved in the production and amendment of mainly electronic 2D technical drawings and 3D models. As a CAD technician, you can be employed on a broad range of design activities across various discipline groups, including Structural, Mechanical and Electrical. Our CAD Technicians may also support business winning and estimating activities and will be expected to undertake key responsibilities during project mobilisation (CAD system setup) and CAD Administration/support activities throughout project and design lifecycles.

What will you be doing?
You will work with various stakeholders including Engineers, Designers, Project Management as well as customers and equipment vendors. Depending on the task or project will generally work under the supervision of a CAD Lead, Designer, Senior Designer or Engineer.

The role involves:
* Preparation/production/amendment of drawings throughout design lifecycle in line with recognised ISO standards to the required time, cost and quality requirements.
* Ensure task and project risks are communicated appropriately.
* Preparation, production and maintenance of project documentation as required by the design lifecycle.
* Produce and update 'as built' datum pack documentation.
* Production and maintenance of 'Modelled Parts' and creation of Parts Libraries.
* Administration and support of CAD systems
* Reporting of progress and issues to line management.
* Be aware of, and ensure the implementation of, safety, health and environmental requirements.
* Assist with the maintenance and improvement in the standard and quality of outputs.

The experience you'll bring
* A minimum of 5, National 5 qualifications (C) or above including English, Science, and Maths.
* (Equivalent national certificates (e.g. GCSE) are acceptable)
* Recognised CAD training and/or qualification and demonstrable experience in appropriate software packages. For example; Autodesk suite/products (including AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant 3D), Hexagon PPM (including Smart 3D), FORAN and ShipConstructor.
* Must hold or have ability to obtain SC security clearance
