Toolmaker

Your experience as a Toolmaker will prove to be vital to my client. My client is one of Plymouth's leading manufacturers. It is one of 11 manufacturing sites in the clients Group with 11,000 employees worldwide. To design and manufacture jigs and fixtures to drawing specification and carry out PM activities on Power Press Tools.

Responsibilities:

• Design, fabricate & commission new jigs and fixtures to provide process capability for production processes
• To order materials and tools for jigs and fixtures needed for the above
• To carry out preventative maintenance programs on power press tools, jigs and fixtures
• To design and produce new machinery tooling to achieve product specifications
• To support new product introductions ensuring they have the equipment and processes to achieve
• To support new equipment installations
• Identify continuous improvement activities and implement the actions

Preferred experience:

• Level 3 in an Engineering Discipline
• Understanding of engineering drawings & critical dimensions
• Knowledge of materials used for jigs/fixtures; tool steels, hardening etc
• Auto-CAD for design activities
• CNC programming
• Mills, lathes, grinders, wire eroder, spark eroder
• Able to use quality measuring equipment e.g. verniers, mics to produce parts to drawing tolerances
• Experience of producing jigs and fixtures to drawing tolerances
