Babcock, Devonport NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) department have new progressive opportunities for two NDT R&D Engineers. You will be working for the Chief NDT Engineer and Principal NDT Engineer joining the NDT Engineering Team, consisting of 13 members, which in-turn forms part of the 165 strong Welding Design and NDT department. The NDT Engineering Team focuses on the day-to-day compliance of NDT, whist also undertaking R&D (Research and Development) initiatives to improve processes, comply with latest H&S regulations and drive efficiency.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for you to have a wide-range experience in Non-Destructive Testing and ideally hold one or more NDT qualifications. You will take a proactive approach to tasks and be experienced in undertaking research activities and implementing innovation, as well as be up to date with the latest NDT technologies. We are looking for you to have experience in producing lab reports, literature reviews, presenting and justifying proposals. Ideally you will also be well adverse in statistical data evaluation methods and experienced in relevant software for data collation and analysis. Your attitude will demonstrate the high importance of product safety and general health and safety.


What will you be doing?
* Designing, conducting, and coordinating Non-Destructive Testing Research and Development projects and trials
* Attending virtual and offsite: forums, conferences, webinars, lectures, workshops, and exhibitions to keep abreast of the latest NDT technology
* Adopting new NDT technology to further enhance the departments capability and portfolio to open-up new opportunities
* Implementing innovation, improving efficiency, and reducing hazardous NDT activities
* Conducting statistical analysis on gathered data as part of R&D projects
* Producing technical lab reports, literature reviews, project reports, improvement strategies and business justifications to secure funding

The experience you'll bring
* You will have previous experience conducting Research and Development projects and/or demonstrate a strong broad understanding of NDT techniques including surface-flaw and volumetric methods

You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance. You must be a British National and be capable of holding NNPI, PSA and Atomic security clearances.
