An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shift Front Line Manager (Weekends, both Nights and Days) to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with Brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum, based at their manufacturing facility in Trafford Park, Manchester (M14). This is a full-time temporary role to start immediately and is for 12 Months.

Hours of work are Fri (9pm - 7am) Sat - Sun (7pm - 7am) then following week Sat-Sun (7am - 7pm), this will be rotational and working onsite, and is paying c£46,000k per annum (This includes shift allowance), pro rata, depending on experience.

Job Purpose:

Primarily a weekend role working rotating shifts (rotating 12-hour days and nights) but requiring a level of flexibility. As the Front Line Manager (FLM) you will be responsible for leading the performance of the site at weekends - leading the team, driving the safety and quality agenda and constantly striving for continuous improvement.

You will play a crucial part in the extended leadership team for this site, accountable for performance and development of the Weekend Shift Teams.

The primary focus of the role will be in the following key areas:

  • Delivery of the production plan
  • Team capability development
  • Improvement activities

The key measure of success in this role is the successful achievement of performance targets (KPI's) primarily, this will be in the following areas: safety, quality, OEE, plan and cost.

The role reports to Site Operations Manager and will work collaboratively with weekday area leaders in manufacturing, warehousing and blending.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for full site operations at weekend covering manufacturing, warehousing, and blending.
  • You are primarily responsible for the weekend shift teams.
  • You will lead the safety and quality agenda by example, ensuring all requirements, training, policies, and procedures are met across the team
  • Utilising WCM (continuous improvement) methodologies, you will drive the semi-autonomous team's work to counter losses - ensuring good stock management and eradicating discrepancies
  • You will assist and find solutions to problems and challenges across the site working to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement

About You:

  • You will have experience within a leadership role demonstrating the ability to coach and inspire, ideally you have gained this in a FMCG or other manufacturing environment, such as pharmaceuticals
  • You have a strong technical understanding of manufacturing, with a sound knowledge of end-to-end manufacturing processes
  • Strong aptitude for solving problems
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement
  • You are comfortable working outside of 'office hours' at times, as whilst this is a Weekend Shift Manager role, the 24/7 nature of the factory means this role will require at times, a flexible approach to working hours
