About the role
Here at Babcock International Group, we are growing our MMS team to meet customer demand for the great work we do. We're developing a diverse group of people with experience in the areas of science, technology, and engineering. We're seeking to recruit a person who's enthusiastic in working in an engineering environment to fulfil the role of a Senior Engineer for Submarine Strategic Systems.

Babcock Naval Nuclear
Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) team provides engineering management and technical support services to enable the delivery of the Company's key contracted outputs to the client, essentially to deliver available and capable submarines for the Royal Navy. The Maritime Missions Systems team within the SSE contains both Strategic and Combat Systems Engineers who provide submarine engineering support services to the client, in addition to providing organic engineering support to the wider Babcock business across multiple sites.

Who are we looking for?
Someone with the enthusiasm to drive, manage and deliver on projects to support the customer. Being able to challenge the status quo and question methods, to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. You need to be confident, with clear communication skills, both written and verbal and adaptable to meet the customers priorities. Being capable of adding value to every project you're involved and ensuring high quality levels with each task. You will directly contribute to Naval Operations and support and maintain the provision of safe and available submarines.

How you'll play your part
The principal focus of your role is to deliver guidance in the domain of either safety, design change or business improvement for the UK's existing and the future submarine fleet. You will be expected to deliver engineering process improvements in support of the projects you've been allocated.

You will ensure the work meets the high levels of quality already set by a professional team. Other activities include:
* Working collaboratively with industry partners within the business Enterprise.
* Growing your knowledge and experience of Submarine Strategic Weapons Systems.
* Supporting the customer in the achieving their vision and aspirations for improvement.

The experience you'll bring
You'll need a Level 6 qualification in an engineering or science discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Experience in the following areas would be beneficial but not necessarily essential:
* Member of a relevant professional institution.
* Either Chartered in your discipline or in the process of attainment.
* Working with multi-disciplinary teams.
* Experience in customer-facing roles.
* Leading or contributing Continuous Improvement activities.

The successful candidate will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance. As you will be working with US information supplied under the Polaris Sales Agreement the post holder will have to be a sole UK national to meet US criteria

What else do I need to know?
You will ideally be based in either the Bristol or Plymouth area. The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involves working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. You must hold current, active security clearance or be willing to undergo the necessary process to obtain security clearance.
