Location: Newport

Hours: Full time / Perm

Salary: 24k

Would you like to join a UK's leading supplier of PPE, safety, and hygiene products to the food manufacturing, Utility, Automotive and Power generation industry.

The Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for the overall purchasing activities, management, and monitoring of inventory, coordinating receiving of goods and providing general operations support. They will manage an array of key vendors, working closely with the Commercial team and Warehouse team to drive efficiency's.

They will have very strong communication skills and are able to work well under pressure.

They will have previous experience managing stocks and supplier relationships to enable them to provide another level of expertise to the team.

Key Activities / Accountability's

  • Create purchase orders for current and forecasted demand.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure purchase orders have correct price, freight charge, and delivery date upon receiving confirmations.
  • Coordinate with vendors in the event of an issue with delivery discrepancies.
  • Follow up with vendors on back orders and notify operations of any impacts to projected delivery dates.
  • Follow up with vendors when purchase orders are due to be received to ensure they are on track.
  • Review vendor invoices with errors and coordinate a quick resolution with Finance.
  • Work with Supply Chain manager to address issues with problematic vendors.
  • Work alongside the warehouse team to support effective/smart purchases of key vendors.
  • Maintain the approved supplier database in SAP.
  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a supplier's key personnel.
  • Coordinate inbound deliveries to support the warehouse resource / goods inwards policies and requirements.
  • Drive stock out today goals set by Supply Chain Manager.
  • Establish efficient metrics between the Supply Chain department and the warehouse by implementing tools / ideas that are designed to monitor and analyse workload more efficiently.
  • Maintain min/max template and review how it can drive commercial and stock decisions.
  • Supplier stock reviews to ensure we are not holding too much stock, coordinate returns for items not selling and support customer service with highlighting where customers may have stopped ordering bespoke items purchased only for them.

Education and skills

  • Educated to GCSE/O level standard or equivalent
  • A highly motivated and positive attitude is essential to this role as working within the Supply Chain team can often be very demanding and challenging.
  • Numeracy & Literacy skills
  • Excellent communication both face-to-face and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy environment

Preferred Experience and Knowledge

  • Supply-Chain background
  • Knowledge of inventory and stock management
