Have you ever wondered what it takes to support our nuclear deterrent? Babcock Naval Nuclear plays a key role in the support of Royal Navy nuclear submarines throughout their life-cycle and in ensuring that submarines are ready to conduct operations at sea. We are charged with ensuring that the submarines, and the support arrangements that we and others provide, enable safe delivery of the UK's Continuous at Sea Deterrent patrols at an acceptable cost to the nation.

Who we are looking for?

We're looking for Systems Engineers to join us at one of our 3 sites with agile remote working from home probable. As a Systems Engineer you'll work within the Engineering Services Directorate, a centre of excellence for our professional engineering capability, supporting naval programmes while proactively improving our capabilities. You'll be applying your engineering domain knowledge to support technical outputs and solutions in order to enable submarine availability and fit for purpose nuclear licenced infrastructure.

What will you be doing?
You will be part of the Technical Governance Function, which contains three teams: Technical Management, Support Assurance, and Support Solution Assurance. More specifically, you will be working within the Support Solution Assurance Team or the Technical Management Team across the future submarine programmes.

Technical Management utilises Systems Engineering principles to enable engineering delivery within Babcock Naval Nuclear projects. This includes the management, configuration and development of policies, processes, frameworks and tools across the Integrated Logistic/Product Support (ILS/IPS) elements.

Support Solution Assurance enables overall coherence of Support Solution Development (SSD) by enabling and delivery integrated planning and consistent assessment of SSD against requirements and maturity criteria. The domain enacts formal governance of SSD through gated reviews events and aligns SSD with Defence and Industry standards and best practice. The domain is positioned to define, develop and manage Support Solution Requirements for products and then plan, manage and execute qualification and certification of the emerging Support Solution. Overall SSD is assured through close interaction with other ILS/IPS functional domains.

The experience you'll bring
* Be a member of an accredited STEM body such as IMechE, IMarEST or IET
* Qualified to minimum of a HND in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, System, Data or Maths). Experience in lieu of formal education would be considered.
* You will need to be personable, professional and driven with the ability to engage in a range of subjects. Working with a good level of professional knowledge, the role is part of a multi-disciplinary team and will potentially involve working across a range of projects.

You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.

What a role with Babcock offers?
* Enhanced employment terms and conditions
* Money purchase pension scheme
* Life assurance
* Share ownership scheme
* Occupational health services
* Flexible working hours (only non-industrials)
* Career opportunities, advice and guidance from our Learning & Development teams
* Additional benefits may also apply for Management posts
