Claims/Inquests Administrator - Exeter

As a Claims/ Inquests Administrator you will provide general assistance and administrative support to the Claims and Inquests team to ensure that contentious inquests and claims (including employer's liability, public liability, clinical negligence and low value property claims) are managed efficiently.

Main duties:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of Excel is essential as you will need to be fully competent to create and use a range of spreadsheets and Excel formulae.
  • You may need to deal with complex, sensitive and distressing data as you carry out initial investigations into claims and inquests, identifying staff members involved and sourcing relevant documents and information (for example, clinical records, call recordings, staff records).
  • Initiate investigations into staff personal injury claims and present the findings to the allocated Claims and Inquests Manager or officer, setting out the options in relation to liability and next steps.
  • Respond to requests for documents and retrieve them from the companies systems
  • Comply with and keep up to date with information governance requirements including GDPR.
  • Make arrangements for statements to be obtained from members of staff and other witnesses.
  • Assist the Claims/Inquest Officer to co-ordinate attendance of relevant managers at inquests and trials.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the electronic and hard copy claims and inquests files, ensuing that they are kept up to date and in good order. Keep the team file summaries updated.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and updates for meetings as required.
  • Deal with general enquiries regarding claims and inquests, raising issues with the Claims and Inquests Officer and allocated Manager as appropriate.
  • Assist the allocated Claims and Inquests Manager to identify lessons learned from individual claims and inquests as well as themes, trends and patterns to prevent future harm, loss or damage.

Duration - Ongoing

Working hours - Full time Monday - Friday 37.5 hours (hybrid)

Hourly rate - £9.50
