Senior Project Engineer (Electrical)

Overall Department Direction
The role will sit within the Support sector of Babcock International Group. A Senior Technical Engineer (Electrical) is required to manage technical support across multiple projects including Submarine Main Controls, Switch Gear, Hydraulics and TRIPER contracts as well as some involvement with pumps, motors, biofoul, sea water coolers, and Domestic equipment onboard RN vessels. The role will be a full time role and be based in Devonport, Plymouth.

Main Purpose of Role
To provide a technical support function to the Marine System Contracts within the Support stream. The output will be in support of both Surface and Sub-Surface platforms within the Royal Navy, but bias towards submarine systems. The focus will be primarily upon the technical aspects of Submarine Main Controls, Switch Gear and Hydraulics support contracts.

Your responsibilities will include:
* Define and update repair/new-buy Statement of requirements (SoRs).
* Provide Task Approval Form (TAF) support to the Project Managers as necessary to scope packages of work.
* Investigating and resolving technical queries from a variety of sources.
* Resolving obsolescence issues identified by the Obsolescence Manager, applying the most appropriate resolution
* Performing Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) Monitoring and suggesting changes to improve the reliability of assets.
* Assisting in maintaining a technical document library. This includes reviewing and updating Books of Reference (BRs) and Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPCs).
* Codifying non-patternised items to allow their supply to the Royal Navy.
* Conduct visits to OEMs and liaise on board with ships staff as required to support / resolve currency of issues.
* Attend Safety Case Reviews and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME).
* Involvement in raising and supporting CIAPs on PMPT and MCWE workflows

This will require close liaison with Ministry of Defence, Royal Navy and internal project staff on a daily basis, and as such, the Senior Technical Engineer should possess excellent communications skills.

It would be advantageous if the applicant has worked on Submarine Main Controls, Switch Gear and Hydraulic systems previously.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
* Experience of Electrical Engineering systems
* Proven experience of RN operations or support.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication skills.
* Knowledge of customer operations and objectives.
* Knowledge of Company systems and processes.
* Possess good organisational skills and be computer literate, with demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
* A good understanding of configuration management.

Qualifications
* Qualified to degree level or studying towards, in an engineering discipline.
