Our client, is a public distance Learning and Research University, and one of the biggest universities in the UK for undergraduate education.

They are looking to recruit a Junior Cyber Analyst to join them asap until 31st October 2022, working full time and paying £17.83ph, equating to £34,304pa. This role will be working at the Milton Keynes campus and at home and equipment is supplied.

The role

The Junior Cyber Analyst will configure, monitor, respond and escalate security events and incidents as per response plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and triage alerts in response to security events.
  • Support Incident Management during active incidents or rehearsals.
  • Document, and refine response plans to existing and new alerts.
  • Provide support and guidance in the configuration of security systems and applications.
  • Reduce cyber risk to tolerable levels as defined by the CISO by evidencing the completion of activities mapped to cyber risks.
  • Assist in the creation of incident reports for varying audiences

Skills & Experience

  • Analytical mindset and ability to approach complex problems in a methodical manner.
  • Attention to detail in order to spot trends in data.
  • Strong understanding of cyber threats and associated methodologies.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, and security concepts.
  • Exposure using and/or configuring firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEMs, Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance features desirable but not required.
  • Experience within Scripting languages such as PowerShell desirable but not required.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own work without supervision.


  • Any technical related certifications such as Security +, Network+ that demonstrate good foundational knowledge of core technical concepts.
  • Any demonstratable contributions to security focussed communities, or participation in security focussed events, such as CTFs, forums.
  • A-Levels, Diploma, or Degree in a technology related field.
  • CISMP, OSCP, GIAC, or other related industry certifications.
