Job Title: IS Graduate - SF37642
Business Unit: Babcock Corporate Services
Location: Portsmouth Lakeside (PO6 3EN)

Overall Department Direction

Our Information Services graduates are based in Lakeside near Portsmouth. However, as you may need to travel to any one of our UK Babcock sites, you need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme.

On this two-year programme, you'll gain insight into all our core activities, including IT platform, Portfolio and Project management, Security, Core application, Architecture, Design & BE, Information Exploitation and Innovation, Business and Engineering Solution, and Development services.

Whatever you want to specialise in, we can tailor your placements to maximise the time you spend with the relevant team. You'll also work with a range of teams throughout IT and get opportunities to rotate around our teams. This means that you'll be able to take what you've learnt in your degree and put it into action.

Main Purpose of Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you could be working in a range of roles on a huge variety of different programmes. In the business-facing placements you will work alongside Business Relationship Managers and Business Analysts to interpret and understand business strategies and IT requirements. You will interact closely with the solution, functional and technical teams to translate those requirements into solutions. At the same time, you'll gain an understanding of the importance of testing within the software development lifecycle.

In addition, our information support and service delivery teams help the most critical parts of our business to make decisions when they count. Working within the Analytics stream, you'll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, building your core IX/IM capabilities, as well as developing broader skills along the way. Capability areas include, mathematical modelling and simulation, advanced statistical analysis, predictive analysis, web development, data visualisation, information-related technology development and strategy development. Along the way, you'll partner up with a lot of different teams within Babcock and learn from them as you go.

You may also join a dynamic team of Cyber Security experts who work to keep Babcock secure. You will get to learn and contribute to areas such as threat intelligence, investigation, monitoring and analysis through to use of our security reporting platform. In this dynamic role, you will put your scripting capability to good use as well as gaining experience through working with the wider Babcock security community.

Qualifications

  • A 2:2 (Hons) Business with IT or Computing related degree or degree in Information Technology or Security-related IT degree or degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operational Research and/or Computer Science.
  • To be able to satisfy the MoD's, and our customer's security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment).

What You'll Get

When your part of the team at Babcock, we think it's only right that you're properly rewarded for the contribution you make and the hard work you put in. That's why, in addition to a highly competitive salary, you can look forward to generous pension and employee share schemes, and a whole host of other flexible benefits. These include things like access to our healthcare cash plan, Wellbeing Centre and discounts on everything from gym membership and travel to retail, dining and entertainment. You'll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach and volunteering activities, which our graduates find incredibly rewarding in all sorts of other ways.
