An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with Brands such as PG Tips, Lipton and Pukka, as an Assistant Brand Innovation Manager. This will involve a mixture of working from home and working from the office in Waterloo, London (2 days minimum in the office per week).

This is a full-time temporary role working a 36.25-hour week to start ASAP for 12 months, paying up to £43,000 per annum, pro rata.

As an Assistant Brand Manager you will be directly responsible for marketing in UK managing the following:

  • Strategy & category development
  • Drive category development:
  • Tea Company being a market leader in the tea category, this role is responsible for delivering the right strategy to grow the Tea category via more users, more usage, more value.
  • Work hand in hand with customer marketing to deliver strong category growth stories driving value & profit for the retailers
  • Drive core black Tea: UK being an important black tea market it is essential to drive growth through focus on black tea. This includes developing a strong winning strategy, ensuring product superiority and portfolio optimisation
  • Work cross functionally with Category and Sales teams to translate marketing plans into business framework and optimise commercial opportunities.

  • Portfolio management & Innovation
  • Integrated business planning: The role will support in the IBP process and help build the 12Q plans for the country.
  • Core portfolio superiority: This role will support on core optimization/renovation via superior recipes & claims
  • Local innovations: The assistant brand manager is responsible for developing local innovations based on consumer insights.
  • Disruptive innovations: The role will also be responsible for disruptive innovations (potentially shared with other countries) helping Tea Co be the first mover in new products which help expand the tea consumer base.
  • Drive sustainability improvement across our portfolio (recyclability, less/no plastic, etc)
  • The role will be responsible for managing all innovations through the internal innovation and gate keeping system, inc preparation of key material, project management and timeline management.
  • Artwork management: Manage artworks through the Tea Co Artwork management system.
  • Partner with non-UK markets on PG Tips requirements outside of the UK. Collate requirements and support to execute these in other markets.

  • Performance delivery
  • P&L management: for Innovation, responsible for creating P&L for projects to prove viability in conjunction with finance, category and CMI.
  • Monthly data analysis, preparation of reports to understand monthly performance metrics and share with team inc putting insight into action.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with the market research and category teams to mine local consumer insights and input into both global and local marketing programs
  • Management of marketing budgets within agreed targets
  • Manage Innovation for the team through the full integrated business process
  • Lead for PG Tips outside of the UK market
  • Support on Integrated business planning and trade cascades to customers

Key Experience/Skills Required

  • Experience in an FMCG business as a Marketing Assistant/Assistant Brand Manager with Brand Development knowledge. Tea/beverages category experience would be a bonus.
  • Bringing innovation to market.
  • Commercial Degree, particularly in Marketing, preferred but not essential if have relevant work experience.
  • Marketing leadership.
  • Writing concept briefs.
  • Proven track record of delivering top line and marketing KPIs (driving share and penetration).
  • Managing agencies.
  • Working with Category and Sales teams to deliver customers plans.
  • Experience in liaising with multiple markets (particularly Europe and USA) would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Must be a passionate tea drinker.
